Fernán Núñez
The village is situated in the south of the province, in the heart
of the countryside, among fields of cereals and other herbaceous
crops.
The present-day village dates back to the second half of the 14th century, although its colonial urban structure dates back to the 17th century, when the earl of the time, Don Francisco de los Rios, encouraged the colonisation and economic development of the village. The rebuilding of the Duke"s Palace was undertaken by his grandson, Carlos Jose Gutierrez de los Rios, in accordance with contemporary trends, the result being a veritable masterpiece of neoclassical architecture. Next to the palace stands St. Marina"s Church, of baroque design.
