Santiago de Calatrava
This village is situated to the south west of the province, on the countryside governed by the olive tree. In the past, the village belonged to the Order of Calatrava, which explains its surname.
History
In 1471, Muley Albohacén who came from Granada, took the village with his army, carrying out a great slaughter, which made the people take refuge in the fortress of La Higuera.From this cruel past, we only have an Arab tower with a spring from where the neighbours got their water.
