Marquees are a meeting point for people to enjoy good wine, taste a wide variety of food and dance sevillanas. Life inside the marquees is a party.
The marquees in the fair provide the opportunity to taste the best traditional gastronomy of the occasion – casseroles, fried fish, gazpacho, montaditos (tapas on bread), Spanish omelette and fried pepper. This delicious food, together with fino sherry, is the best menu for a week when the people of Jerez have the best of times.
People dancing sevillanas, clapping and following the beat can be found in the marquees throughout the whole day, in a flurry of flounces and polka dots. The women of Jerez make the most of this week to look their very best.
At the “Real” visitors can find the friendliest environment. A walk down the streets of the fair becomes a welcoming fiesta where all the marquees are public.
This array of musical talents will be present at each one of the marquees in the fairground.
Before leaving the fair or Jerez you must visit the most emblematic locations to find out more about this unique genre, such as the Taberna Flamenca, the Tabanco El Pasaje or la Guarida del Ángel. Other places worth a visit are the Andalusian Flamenco Centre and the Chair of Flamenco Studies.
