Presentation of the Area

The Department of Statistics and Market Research is intended to be a tool for the Autonomous Community to get a better understanding how tourism activity works and what is its contribution to the formation of the great economic scale of the region.

There are three principle lines of work:

  1. Meeting the basic needs for statistical information, either through the collection of existing statistical and documentary information or through the compilation of its own statistics on issues of particular importance for the understanding of tourism in Andalusia.
  2. Understanding the impact of tourism on the regional economy through the creation of a method of analysis that will allow the establishment of a relationship between tourism as an economic activity and the overall economy of Andalusia.
  3. Doing forecast analysis through quantitative predictive models in order to anticipate the evolution of demand in the short and medium term.
