House of Alba Collection
Type of event: Exhibitions
The exhibition House of Alba Collection will feature a selection of exquisite pieces owned by Cayetana Fitz-James Stuart, the Duchess of Alba.
The 40 masterpieces on display form part of one of the largest private collections in Spain. Thirty-five of the works are from the Liria Palace (Madrid) and the remaining five from the Las Dueñas Palace in Seville.
Visitors to the exhibition will be able to admire famous paintings such as Titian’s Grand Duke of Alba and Luca Giordano's Nativity, among other works.
However, pride of place goes to Goya’s painting of the Duchess of Alba, the famous portrait of María Teresa del Pilar Cayetana de Silva y Álvarez de Toledo, 13th Duchess of Alba.
In addition to paintings, the exhibition will also feature jewellery, tapestries, documents and sculptures, making the show a truly important cultural event for the city of Seville.
