Type of event: Exhibitions

This exhibition has been arranged by the Cordoba Fine Arts Museum to mark the occasion of the opening of the new Institutional Headquarters and Integrated Management Area of the Madinat al-Zahra Archaeological Site. The show takes a closer look at the historical situation of the site as it was prior to 1926, through an analysis of four men's close relationship with Cordoba, the city of the Caliphs. Rafael Romero Barros, Ricardo Velázquez Bosco, Mateo Inurria and Enrique Romero de Torres were respectively Director of the Provincial Archaeological Museum, Architect-Director of the archaeological excavations, official restorer of the items found throughout the excavation, and the Royal Delegate for Fine Arts.

For a variety of different motives the museum holds ample testimony to the activity of all of these men in its collection.
