Type of event: Concerts, Dance, Theatre, Flamenco

The Festival of Jerez is a major exhibition of the city's most genuine and important artistic manifestation: flamenco.

Dance is the unifying thread running through this festival. With its avowed aim of serving as a showcase for flamenco and Spanish dance, the Festival of Jerez is a landmark in events of this kind celebrated in the world.

The Festival is firmly committed to the creative evolution of flamenco, the development of its expressive forms and the modernisation –based on tradition— of its languages. The Festival promotes a spirit of encounter and  artistic cross-pollination, and supports the creative activity of artists who are interested in finding new aesthetic and expressive channels for flamenco in the 21st century.

In accordance with this philosophy, the festival is conceived solely not only as a programme of dissemination, but also includes teaching exhibitions, support for creative projects and serves as a point of encounter with other artistic genres.

The activities take place in various venues as well as in the Teatro Villamarta.
