Type of event: Dance, Shows, Theatre

Over the years this event has become a well-established showcase for national and international theatre production of both classical works and more alternative productions. For a little over a month, Malaga will host a series of 12 theatre shows, four street activities, and two parallel events featuring  dialogues with theatrical authors and dramatised readings.

The main venue for the 27th Festival continues to be the Cervantes Theatre, and the Echegaray Theatre will be used to stage very select shows for a specialised public, and for pieces for the entertainment of both children and adults.

In addition there will be giant puppets, babies in motorised prams, little green men, and living sculptures, all of whom are part of the show entitled 'House guests' ('Invitados en casa'), a programme of street performances which takes the Malaga Theatre festival off the stage and into the open air to mingle with the passers-by.

The activities organised in parallel with the 27th Malaga Theatre Festival also include the 'Theatre Letters' ('Letras del Teatro') event, where various Spanish authors will take part in a discussion before a specialist audience in the Echegaray; as well as two dramatised readings.
