Fue inaugurado a mediados del XIX en un admirable edificio que, hasta la desamortización de Mendizabal, había sido Convento de la Merced Descalza.

Cuenta con magníficas obras de Murillo, Zurbarán, Valdés Leal y otros representates de la escuela sevillana. Por la calidad de las obras que contiene, en la actualidad está considerado como la segunda pinacoteca de España.

Cerrado lunes, 1 y 6 de Enero, 28 de Abril, 1 de Mayo, 24, 25 y 31 de Diciembre.
