Energy Consumption
Energy Consumption
- Try to turn off lights when not in use. In the case of strip lights, they should only be turned off if they are not to be used again within 2 hours or more.
- Before leaving a room, mak
e sure that lights are switched off and unnecessary electrical devices are unplugged.
- Do not open the fridge unnecessarily. Leaving it open while you think of what to take, or placing items inside while hot, increases its workload and therefore its electricity consumption.
- Close the doors of appliances well.
- Use heating/air conditioning responsibly to avoid excessive energy consumption. 20ºC is a sufficient temperature. Opening or closing windows, and letting more or less light enter a room are ways to save energy.
- Turn off the television when you are not watching. Do not leave it on stand-by, which is equivalent to a daily consumption of 1.5 volts.
- Fill the washing machine and dishwasher completely and use low-temperature programmes. Dry clothes in the sun. This way you will save water and energy.
- Do not waste hot water.
- If you can, use the microwave instead of the conventional oven. This reduces energy consumption by 60%-70%, as well as saving a considerable amount of time.
- Follow the recommendations of the tourism establishment where you are, and help to save energy.
