Peña Cultural Flamenca El Aljibe de Carcabuey
The El Aljibe Flamenco Cultural Club in Carcabuey is in the province of Cordoba in the town of Carcabuey.
The El Aljibe Flamenco Cultural Club in Carcabuey started out on 21 July 1989 with a meeting attended by twenty-six people, where the process for creating the statutes began and the first Board of Directors was appointed on 13 November.
Their “tablao” has enjoyed the appearance of top-flight Flamenco stars like Manuel Mairena, José Mercé, Meneses, Chano Lobato and Inmaculada Aguilar, and there have been local artists like Asun González and Angelita Marín. It also witnessed the birth what is now called the Acebuche Flamenco Group.
The El Aljibe Flamenco Cultural Club in Carcabuey treasures its fresh spirit of culture, and defends what has been declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, as defined on the stone pillar in the so-called Plazuela del Flamenco next to the Club: “Flamenco, Art, culture and feeling”.
