A few years later his uncle Diego del Gastor took him on and started to teach him his falsetas. Dieguito has always stood out because he is intermittent, brilliant, butinformal. He became famous in 1975 when he released his first album, but when he returned from the USA he stopped promoting it. He appeared onseveral TV programmes with his father, but that is it. He has alwayssaid that his town has not treated him well In 1975 he met Ortiz Nuevoin Madrid and went to live with him for two months.

He alternated his stays in Madrid with trips back to his town, where he played at six editions of the Gazpacho Festival. But his great appearance before the public was on 23 September 1998 at the Seville Biennale There he presented the show "Añoranza" and was very much appreciated by the critics.
