Marchal
Marchal is located in Hoya de Guadix, on a valley watered by the rivers descending from the north face of the nearby Natural Park of Sierra Nevada. This outstanding small village offers visitors spectacular scenery with Sierra Nevada in the background and a distinctive urban AREA with numerous troglodyte dwellings and the palace-house of Los Gallardo.
History
This village originated as a medieval farmhouse in the Arab period. Abundant cave-homes and Moorish remains can be found.In the 15th century this AREA was assigned to the last remnants of the Moorish population.
