Description of the resort

The Sierra Nevada ski and mountain resort is the southernmost resort in Europe. Set in the Penibético mountain range and 32 km. from Granada, it has over 103 km. of ski runs, with over 115 marked pistes for all ability levels, and top-quality snow. It also has a cross-country skiing circuit, snow-park and recreational areas for non-skiers.

How to get there

Sierra Nevada is conveniently located off the A-395 road, which links Granada to the ski resort at Pradollano by means of 32 kilometres of wide road with a gentle gradient.

The A-92 dual carriageway, the main communications route in Andalusia, makes the resort easy to reach from any point in the region, and links up to the road network in the rest of the Iberian peninsula.

If you are coming from the Mediterranean coast or from Jaén, the A-44 will take you to Granada and then to the road which climbs up to Sierra Nevada.

Sierra Nevada's privileged geographical situation means excellent travel connections to Spain's major cities, by air, rail and road.

Services at the resort (on the slopes and in the valley)

You can enjoy a wide range of first-class services at an altitude of 2,700 m.: on-slope restaurants, ski schools, equipment rental, first-aid services, crèche, and state-of-the-art ski lifts which can carry 50,471 skiers an hour (2 cable cars, 16 chair-lifts, 2 drag lifts and 8 conveyor belts), as well as modern artificial snow systems with 350 snow cannons, and a total of 32.3 km. of snow-covered slopes.

Ski slopes

The resort is divided into six areas: Veleta, Laguna de las Yeguas, Borreguiles, Loma Dílar, Parador and Río, with a total of 115 pistes and over twenty ski-lifts.

Services in the valley or in the surrounding area

The ski resort has all kinds of commercial establishments: food shops, photo, gifts , sale and rental of ski equipment, and other services such as banks, a chemist's, hairdressers, a medical clinic and a wide range of comfortable modern apartments. In addition, there are numerous services available in the city of Granada, only 32 km away.

Snow and Après-ski activities

Sierra Nevada has a multitude of leisure options, including restaurants serving cuisine from almost all over the world, tapas bars, cafeterias, pubs, discos, cinema, heated swimming pool, a spa, and a magnificent sports club with modern facilities. The different hotels also offer entertainment programmes for young and old after the day's skiing.

The MirloBlanco fun activities take place at the resort during the summer and winter: Bike slalom, Bike skiing, Chair skiing, Archery, the best equipment for beginners to go skiing and snowboarding on an easy slope. In this same area, visitors can enjoy going down the slopes fast on roller-sleds, and the ice-skating rink with ecological ice.

Sierra Nevada organises tailor-made competitions: ski-cross, cross-country, parallel slalom... An exclusive slope with boards and stopwatches. There is a wide range of services for organising other activities such as golf in the snow, vehicle tests, recording of advertisements, etc.

Other activities can also be tailor-made: mini Olympics, gymkhanas, building igloos or snowmen, night rides on snow machines, dinner at 2,700 m, next to the slopes...
