Water sports in the Iznájar Reservoir

Kayak

Practising water sports and doing so in the province of Córdoba might seem like a contradiction in terms, but this must be because you are not yet aware of the existence of the Iznájar reservoir. Located at the foot of the Sierras Subbéticas Nature Reserve, it has a shoreline extending more than 100 kilometres which has given it the nickname of "El Lago de Andalucía" and made it an ideal place for swimming and water sports.

The reservoir of Iznájar gives you an opportunity to spend a wonderful holiday in the interior, while practising the same sports as on the best beaches on our coast. The waters are really calm and you can enjoy activities in which all the members of the family can take part, from the youngest to the oldest.

The first obligatory stop is in an area called Valdearenas, a magnificent freshwater beach that is 1.5 km long and where you can enjoy magnificent panoramic views of the reservoir while sitting in your deckchair. If you are looking for a bit more action, you should discover everything that the Estación Náutica Lago de Andalucía has to offer, including creating and coordinating innumerable adventures that can be enjoyed on this lake, the largest in Andalusia.

Playa

If you are looking for peace and tranquillity and a certain retro atmosphere, there is nothing better than the pedal boats. Perfect for all the family, ideal for children. Kayaks are also suitable for everyone and different combinations are possible with kayaks for two or three people, or singles for those looking to enjoy the experience alone.

Big SUP

Another water sport that has become very fashionable in recent years is paddle surf, also called "Stand Up Paddleboard" Just a board, a paddle and enjoy the scenery while practising sport. But watch out, it takes more physical effort than you think! There is a bigger version of paddle surfing called "the big SUP", a huge board where a group of people try to keep their balance. You are bound to end up taking a dip.

For those seeking maximum relaxation and comfort, but who are also not really looking to get wet, the Resort has guided sailing tours accompanied by a skipper who explains all about the surrounding area. You can also hire a tourist boat, ideal for large groups.

If after spending so much time in the water you still have any strength left, you can always visit the nearby Iznájar Reservoir Visitor Centre. There you will learn all about the natural and cultural values surrounding the Genil River and the reservoir, with curious facts about its construction and history.
