Hayrán´s Wall was built in the 11th century by king Hayrán, the first governor of the Taifa (a Moorish dominion) of Almeria. It runs down from the Alcazaba through the Hoya Gorge and ends at the Cerro de San Cristóbal hill, the site of a beautiful image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus dating from 1930.
