The Andalusian Centre of Photography, which belongs to the Consejería de Turismo, Cultura y Deportes de la Junta de Andalucía (Andalusian Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports), was founded in 1992 as the heir to the photographic funds of the Imagina project as well as to continue promoting and diseminating photography both national and internationally.

Goals

The Andalusian Centre of Photography has a permanent institutional offer to deal with photography from an interdisciplinary perspective and to treat and study the image from different approaches.

Facilities

The Andalusian Centre of Photography opened its new facilities in Almería's old city Lyceum in October 2007. The building had been restored and converted to meet the needs of a 21st century photography centre, including a large 600sqm exhibition gallery, rooms for workshops, photo studio, library, screening room, archives, shop and offices.
