Casa Rural La Garrida
Almodóvar is a delightful Andalusian town with about 8,000 inhabitants. It is on the Roman Bética Route and features marvellous Castle of Floresta, one of the best preserved Moorish fortresses in Spain and with spectacular views over the Guadalquivir Valley and the Cordoba countryside. The castle of La Floresta becomes Alto Jardín, the seat of the Tyrell dynasty in the Game of Thrones series.
The La Garrida Country House is located at the foot of the Hornachuelos Nature Reserve that is home to some of the best preserved areas of Mediterranean forest in the Sierra Morena mountains. The trails will lead you to delightful places where you can observe the flight of birds like storks, eagles and vultures, as well as otters, Egyptian mongooses, wild boars, deer and even lynxes.
It is barely a five-minute walk to the Breña II Reservoir, one of the largest in Andalusia and ideal for practising wakeboarding and water skiing. Nearby you will find the Nature Activities Centre that organises a wide range of complementary activities including trips in solar-powered boats, canoe rental, Paddle Board, archery, zip line and a climbing wall.
You really have to visit the city of Córdoba, 22 kilometres away. This city is a supreme World Heritage Site, the only city in the world with four assets acknowledged as World Heritage Sites by the Unesco: the Mosque-Cathedral (1984), the Historical Old Town (1994), the Festival of the Patios (2012) and the Medina Azahara archaeological remains (2018). Of these, the jewel in the crown must surely be the Mosque-Cathedral, the only Cathedral in the world that is inside what use to be a Mosque, a monument that will surprise you, leave you breathless and remain in your memory forever.
La Garrida is offered as a "full rental", that is, not by room. The price for 8 people would be: - from Sunday to Thursday: 280 euros per night. - Friday, Saturday, bank holidays and holidays: 360 euros per night. The minimum stay is 2 nights, and 50% of the booking must be paid in advance. The other 50% is paid upon arrival, along with a 300-euro deposit, which in the absence of damage would be returned at the end of the stay.
Although we tend to be very flexible with check-in and check-out times, where the time coincides with the arrival or departure of another customer, the times will be as follows: - departure before 10am. - Check-in after 2pm. As there are people living nearby, there is a timetable for keeping quiet so as not to disturb the neighbours. The times are as follows: - from 3pm to 5pm. - from 10pm to 8am.
Stag or hen parties are not allowed. Smoking is not allowed inside the house. The pets allowed are cats and dogs.
