Completed in 1584, the interior of the church is sober to say the least. Like all the columned churches of Antequera, its basilica-like ground plan follows the model of La Colegiata.

The most noteworthy of the chapels is the Ánimas chapel, which was totally rebuilt at the end of the 18th century and belongs to the Royal Order of the Santísimo Cristo de la Salud y de las Aguas.

The main image of the crucified figure dates to the 17th century and is one of the most revered images in Antequera, depicting as it does the city´s patron saint.

Free entrance.

Wednesday and Friday (at the hour of mass), 6.30pm.
