29th Edition
Antequera hosts the 29th Edition of the Antequera Blues Festival, on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 July at 10.30pm in the Plaza de Santa María.
The first edition of the Antequera Blues Festival was held in 1988 and consisted of a concert in the Plaza de Toros, making it one of the oldest blues festivals in Spain. Nowadays the main concerts are held in Plaza Santa María, with the magnificent setting of the Royal Collegiate Church of Santa María La Mayor as a backdrop, transformed for the festival into a unique open-air blues club. A place where Roman archaeological remains, a Moorish citadel and the Collegiate Church converge, making it, without a doubt a spectacular site.
The festival is in two cycles. The first cycle consists of a number of concerts that take place on Friday and Saturday in different locations in the town (Cambayá Club and the Parador Hotel); the second cycle concludes with concerts in the Plaza Santa María.
This event complies with all the regulations established by the health authorities, so it is perfectly safe space for both the public and the artists.
