Located near the town of Bailén (a little over 5km), next to the Rumblar River, the Burguillos Meadow is a public mountain owned by this municipality.

An old meadow for used for livestock (oxen and sheep), it was also used for obtaining picón from the mountain - a plant-based charcoal burnt in braziers, a type of stove used frequently in the region.

For some time, the Burguillos Meadow has been an ecological focal point for citizens of the area, as a place for leisure and relaxation in the countryside (barbecues, picnic areas, springs, walks, etc.), but also as a place for environmental education.

Standing atop the valley and in the foothills of the Sierra Morena, it's no coincidence that it is just a stone's throw from the natural park Sierra de Andújar; it contains an impeccable Mediterranean forest dominated by holm oaks and wild olives, mastic, rock rose and broom, a pastoral farming area and a magnificent riverbank forest comprising alders, willows, ash and brambles which spreads parallel to the Rumblar River, a magnificent place to see various bird species: the common nightingale, Cetti's warbler, wrens, wagtails, kingfishers, blue rock thrush, and a large colony of red-rumped swallows, crag martins, and the common swift. It is also an exceptional place to see mammals, as martens, otters and ichneumon mongooses, ducks and siskins, and the occasional endemic fish, such as Andalusian barbel and bogardilla. The terrain, dominated by slate, contains an old sandstone quarry and is dotted with spectacular rounded granite blocks, known locally as skittles and knight stones, which, in general, are home to a large number of Iberian hares, mountain rabbits, boar and a large variety of birds of prey: griffon vultures, black vultures, golden eagles, buzzards , booted eagles and goshawks.
