The Small Carnival of Cádiz, also called carnival of the so-called “jartibles”, those who haven't already had enough with 10 days of Carnival and would still like to hear more local folk songs.
This is the day when the unofficial groups take to the streets and perform their repertoire before a smaller audience than during the official carnival. This is a more intimate affair, different from the crowded carnival days when it is difficult to stroll down the street. The audience comes mostly from the town or nearby towns and it is a good chance to hear the wit and humour of these groups in a more relaxed atmosphere.
As usual, the groups gather together in areas like the Plaza de las Flores, Catedral, Candelaria, San Agustín, Los Callejones, Pericón de Cádiz and the El Pópulo medieval district. This is the last chance for fans to enjoy their folk music in this edition, and they are also able to do so without the usual hustle and bustle and the queuing which occur during the official week of festivities in the city.
