This arch is the only vestige of the first hydroelectric power station in Coín, founded by D. Segundo de la Calle Martínez, who, thanks to his entrepreneurial drive, set up an electricity production and distribution company here in 1897, taking advantage of the waterfall of the Molino Alto, bringing the public electricity supply to Coín on 25th May 1926.
