The Puente Romano is composed of 16 arches and has undergone many reforms. It has also been the victim of wars and revolts. It is believed that the Emperor Augustus built it.

In the first half of the bridge stands a sculpture of San Rafael, which dates from 1651. It is always full of flowers and candles, because of the demands of the citizens of Cordova.
