The San Marcos festivities are held on the last weekend in April: the people from El Ejido head out onto the streets during these festivities, to enjoy the different activities along with the thousands of visitors who come to the town.
During these festivities, there is room for all kinds of artistic and cultural manifestations, such as sports competitions, equestrian exhibitions, a bullfighting festival, the San Marcos Rock music festival, a medieval market, a bean festival and the now famous parade.
But the moment most awaited by devotees begins very early on Sunday. The first stop is at the Plaza de la Iglesia to buy fritters.
Then, there is a mass in honour of the patron saint of beasts and, after that, it is taken on a tractor along the Calle Carreras de San Isidro, Calle San Isidro, down to the boulevard and back to the church along Calle Lobero.
