The Moorish from Baeza built the Main Mosque of the Albaicin on this place that, though it was smaller than the Main Mosque of the city, it was more beautiful. It was consecrated as a church by Cardinal Cisneros. It was demolished in 1500, and only the Patio de los Limoneros courtyard remained. The church was built in 1501 under architect Juan de Maeda and was set on fire in 1936. It only keeps its Plateresque façade in the Siloe style, made by Esteban Sánchez. The courtyard of the mosque still remains, whose west nave is complete.
