It is a visit to different Crafts and Sculpture Workshops, to learn about the Culture of marble from a human and close perspective. It begins at the Marble Interpretation Center, where you can learn about the history, tradition, innovation and future of the Culture of marble in Macael. Inside we find 22 panels, with information on Spanish and English.

Starting with its traditions and history, continuing through different aspects geological and situation of the areas where the quarries are located, by the methods and utensils that were traditionally used both in their extraction as in its transformation, the evolution in the transport of the material, the physical characteristics of the marble blocks, the extraction process modern, ecological-landscape restoration of quarries and slag heaps, the methods used in the different typologies that are distinguished in the transformation subsector currently: the processing factories, the stone mill and handicraft workshops, the presence of the Macael Marble in famous buildings throughout history and around the world, and ending with a look to the future with innovation in the stone, and artificial stone.

We will have the opportunity to experience the process firsthand extraction and elaboration of a piece made of marble thanks to the virtual reality in the experience multisensory “From extraction to exposure” that highlights the importance of stonemasons and artisans, the activity ends with the workshop of carving in marble and mosaics, where you can know the work of the craftsman in all this knowledge is enriched by visiting several craft and sculpture workshops, where, from the hand of the craftsman, we will learn about the transformation to which marble is subjected and how its process of metamorphosis, from raw matter to art, what tools and techniques are employed, as well as the wide variety of parts handicrafts that are made in the workshops, among which the mortars, sinks and funerary art. to know first-hand how they make marble and the different transformation processes.

The magic will come when they observe live how a master craftsman works. The entire tour is done accompanied by a local guide, who is supported by the demonstrations and stories told by renowned sculptors and master craftsmen of Macael.
