Easter Week in Marbella

Easter Week in Marbella is a major religious, social and cultural event held in the city every year. Processions take place from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday, when the "Resurrected Christ" takes to the streets.

The sacred statues are transported on thrones or "tronos" as they are known in the Province of Malaga, unlike other places in Spain where they are called "pasos". These thrones are carried on the backs of "costaleros" who are underneath them and on the shoulders of others below their poles.
