Easter Week in Morón de la Frontera is a Festival of National Tourist Interest in Andalusia. The history of its brotherhoods dates back to the first half of the 16th century.
Easter Week in Morón has nine brotherhoods of penitence and it involves the processions of brotherhoods from Palm Sunday morning to Easter Saturday at night, with the procession of penitence taking place at the church named Iglesia Mayor de San Miguel Arcángel.
The oldest brotherhood is Santo Entierro, whose origins date back to the 16th century, proven via documents dated 1541. Other brotherhoods, such as Ntro. Padre Jesús, began in the early 17th century. Brotherhoods like Compañía and Soledad first came into existence in the 19th century, while the rest were born gradually throughout the last century.
