The Nerja Fair

The town's festivities in honour of the Virgen de las Angustias and San Miguel Arcángel.

Every year at the end of September, the patron saint is carried in a procession from her shrine in the chapel named after her to the church of El Salvador. October 10th is the most important day of the fiesta, when after celebrating mass the Virgin is taken back to the shrine accompanied by San Miguel Arcángel.

The most important events are: flamenco singing festival, folk performances, sports events, cultural activities, beauty contests, float parades, dances, etc.

The Queen of the fiestas is chosen, in categories for children, youth and elderly. Also worth seeing is the election of Mister and Miss Nerja, who participate in provincial and regional beauty contests.
