Located in the cemetery in Noalejo, the Tomb of the Holy Custodian is possibly the most important place of pilgrimage in the entire Sierra Sur de Jaén. There are always flowers or visiting devotees.

Custodio Pérez Aranda (1885-1961) lived in the Hoya del Salobral, in the district of Noalejo, where he cured physical illnesses and comforted the spirits of those who were suffering. The village of La Hoya, where you will find his house, a fountain, a cave and a chapel, is still a centre of pilgrimage today, as the Cemetery in Noalejo, where he was buried.

When he died, on 15 August 1961, his devotees carried him on shoulder high to the cemetery in Noalejo, where he was buried. His tomb has become a centre of pilgrimage for those who believe in Custodio's powers beyond death.

The Sierra Sur de Jaén is a very traditional area for saints and here you will find the Route of Miracles and Saints. It has a significant number of saints, as is the case with this saint, as well as Saint Luisico Aceituno and Saint Manuel. Serene, serious and simple people who were also accessible and who still enjoy respect and devotion today.
