Enjoy with Naturanda one of the most popular day trips in recent years: a trip to the Caminito del Rey from Seville.

This spectacular trail was built by the Sociedad Hidroeléctrica del Chorro, for workers to get from the Salto del Gaitanejo and the Salto del Chorro, to transport materials and carry out monitoring. Trekking along Caminito del Rey is an exciting adventure that will take you back in time. Caminito del Rey is a route through the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes gorge, 3 kilometres long, where some sections are barely 1 metre wide.

The starting point is in the municipality of Ardales, it crosses that of Antequera (province of Malaga), and finishes in El Chorro (Álora). The route of the Caminito can make you giddy as it is suspended on the vertical walls of the gorge, at an average height of 100 metres above the Guadalhorce River. Its name ("The King's Path") dates back to 1921, when King Alfonso XIII crossed this path after the dam of Conde de Guadalhorce was officially opened. It was then named El Caminito del Rey. Over time and because of its disuse, it deteriorated and became the most dangerous path in Europe and there were even some fatal accidents. In 2014, renovation works began due to the regular influx of visitors. A year later, a 7-kilometre route, which was safe for visitors, was opened. The hiking route runs between the Guadalhorce-Guadalteba reservoir and the town of El Chorro.

A walk parallel to the train tracks, where you can enjoy the well-known Gaitanes and Gaitanejo gorges. Once the Caminito del Rey is done, our transport will pick you up to take you to a restaurant in the area to have lunch and taste the typical gastronomy of the Sierra de Málaga or enjoy free time to have your own food or picnic if you wish. After the break and enjoying the last of the views that this magnificent natural setting offers us, we will head back to Seville, where we will arrive at approximately 7pm, with the memories of a wonderful day.
