Sierra de Cádiz Starlight Destination

The Sierra de Cádiz region has been awarded the Starlight Tourist Destination certificate, officially becoming one of the best spots in Andalusia for star tourism.

It is the most recent Starlight Destination in Andalusia.

Sierra de Cádiz is a vast region with fields and hills. The River Guadalete runs through the municipalities of the region, between the hills, before flowing into the Bay of Cadiz.

It is rich in plants and wildlife, which can be seen in its two nature areas: the Sierra de Grazalema Nature Reserve and Los Alcornocales Nature Reserve. The first of them has also been declared a Biosphere Reserve.

The Starlight certification that Sierra de Cádiz has now received is granted to those places that can be visited with good stargazing conditions and that are protected from light pollution, making them suitable to host tourist initiatives aimed at observing the sky as an essential part of nature.

The Starlight Tourist Destination certification promotes values such as its natural ecosystems, or the existence of places without light pollution, thus contributing to strengthening its potential as a new incentive sought by travellers.
