The Port of Tarifa is managed by the Port Authority of the Port of Algeciras Bay and is currently a small port with shopping, fishing and sports sailing activity. There has been a significant increase in the number of passengers and cars with the port of Tangiers after the Port of Tarifa was declared a Schengen Border. The new Sea Station for passengers and its commercial docks provide a comprehensive range of services for traffic on the Strait. The facilities of the Port of Algeciras Bay have adopted the International Code for the Protection of Ships and Dock Facilities (PBIP).

The proximity of Tarifa to the Moroccan port of Tangiers and projects for improving their land communications make this space an ideal base for quick connections with the neighbouring country.
