The Renaissance gardens of the Ribera Castle-Palace in Bornos (Cádiz province) recently won the national award for cultural heritage restoration and conservation, granted by the Culture and Sport Ministry, for the revitalisation of this historical enclave promoted by Bornos town council and Cádiz provincial council.

Hidden for decades, the gardens have been restored to their former glory. Emblematic elements like the central pond, stone steps, tree-lined avenues and artificial grotto have all been renovated.

Located inside the Ribera Castle-Palace, built in the 16th century, the gardens are organised on three terraces connected by steps and feature ornamental fountains and lush vegetation. This gem in Andalusia's Renaissance heritage represents a major tourist attraction

The town of Bornos has a rich historical and cultural legacy as home to outstanding religious buildings like the Church of Santo Domingo de Guzmán and the Convent of Corpus Christi. It also boasts stunning landscape, making it well worth a visit for lovers of culture, history and nature.

The Ribera Castle-Palace and Renaissance gardens are open from Tuesday to Sunday. Times vary according to the season.
