The Home of the Alba Family was rehabilitated and opened to the public in December 2018 by the Town Hall of Valderrubio. It was the inspiration for Federico García Lorca to write his most universal work, "The House of Bernarda Alba" (1936).

Birth of a play: The Patio del Pozo.
Through this well, whose water was shared by the homes of Frasquita Alba and his aunt Matilde, Federico was a silent witness to conversations, plots, etc. All this, together with his prodigious imagination, turned this place into the germination, the birth, of what he called the Drama of women in the villages of Spain: The House of Bernarda Alba.

Inspiration for the play: The Kitchen.
This area briefly shows us both the biography of Frasquita Alba Sierra (Bernarda in the play) and José Benavides Peña (Pepe el Romano in the play), and their social status through strange documents that give us a clear view of a wealthy family and Lorca's use of people and events for his literary creation.

Understanding the drama: Video mapping.
The visit takes us through four rooms in the house that have been readapted to bring us closer to the play by means of different projections that transfer us emotionally to the time represented in the play. This content is distributed by rooms, the Symbology Room, the Poncia Room, the Bernarda Room and the Adela Room.

Publication of the play: La Cuadra.
Numerous editions of the book in Spanish and other languages, as well as stage performances throughout the five continents, go to make 'The House of Bernarda Alba' classic in universal literature, and to establish the author, Federico García Lorca, one of the greatest exponents of Spanish literature worldwide.
