XVII Fiesta de la Matanza y de la Artesanía Popular de Villanueva de Córdoba

The Matanza Festival takes place the last Saturday in February.

During the celebration of this event the whole process of the typical Iberian pig slaughter is re-enacted, as it has traditionally taken place in the homes in Villanueva de Córdoba.

Once the animal has been slaughtered, the participants spend the rest of the day enjoying a variety of traditional pork products while they sing and dance with the popular folklore groups from the local area and the Los Pedroches region.
