Villanueva de las Cruces
Village in the Andevalo region situated in the middle of the province on farming land dedicated to cereals, olive groves and pastures for livestock. It has various monuments, such as the Church of Santa María de la Cruz, Trinity Chapel and the Chapel of the Virgen del Mayor Dolor. Other points of interest are the fountains of Huerta del Chorrito and Finca de Buenavista, both with curative powers.
History
It was founded in about 1587, as a group of houses around a tavern and an inn that were on the road from Seville to Portugal.During the XVII century its name was completed due to the fact that its inhabitants used to corroborate their documents with a cross.
