Zambombas de Navidad en Jerez

This weekend, the town of Jerez de la Frontera will kick off the Christmas season with the beginning of the traditional "Zambombas". These festivals, which combine local wine, traditional pastries and "flamenco" Christmas carols, are celebrated all around the town of Jerez. They are a great excuse to meet up with friends and family during the festive season.

The origins of "Zambombas" are in the gatherings that used to take place in the patios, where the neighbours shared food and wines, and sing songs with rhythms and lyrics which are an essential part of popular culture. In Jerez, the beat of "zambomba" drums was combined with flamenco, making the "Zambomba" in Jerez a unique event.

Since 2015, the "Zambomba" of Jerez has been declared of Cultural Interest, as it considered to be "one of the Christmas cultural expressions of greatest ethnological interest in the autonomous region". This recognition highlights the tourist and cultural value of the "Zambomba" and proves that it is one of the most typical events in Jerez and in the whole of Andalusia.

Every year, the "Zambomba" of Jerez becomes one of the main attractions in the province of Cadiz. In the month leading up to Christmas, hundreds of such festivals take place across the town.

This year, these festivals are expected to attract an even greater number of curious visitors and flamenco lovers. Don't miss the opportunity to experience an authentic "Zambomba" of Jerez

We're looking forward to seeing you in Jerez de la Frontera to celebrate Christmas to the beat of flamenco.

Come and enjoy the magic of Christmas in Andalusia!
