The baths can be found at the foot of the Colegiata de Santa María La Mayor, at the bottom of a steep slope, and were discovered by chance in the summer of 1988. They were built as public baths and their construction can be dated to the middle of the 1st century AD.

The importance of these archaeological remains lies not just in their heritage value but also in the fact that they confirm the existence of the urban settlement of Antikaria, the only previous knowledge of was confined to written sources.
