The Aracena Interpretation Centre and Geological and Mining Museum welcomes everyone who visits Aracena, the capital town of the mountains and the natural park to which it gives its name;where nature, culture and tradition come together to provide a unique space for their discovery and enjoyment.

Attractive panels provide a short but interesting tour of the elements that have shaped the mountain landscape of today: water, flora, fauna and actions of man, all in perfect harmony, creating traditional and industrial production systems, which in turn enable the development of a unique way of living and gastronomy that is also reflected in unusual mountain traditions and festivities.

We take a visual journey through the history of Aracena, from prehistory to the present, highlighting the most important milestones through the town's historic-artistic heritage. The central part is occupied by a large map of the entire surface area of the natural park, where the varied heritage of the mountains and an explanatory map of Aracena can be seen with the location of all the places of interest.

All of this is complemented with two audiovisuals.

The Geological and Mining Museum has an interesting collection comprising more than one thousand minerals from all over the world, which were kindly donated to the Town Council of Aracena by Francisco Orden Palomino. Rocks and fossils from all over the world are didactically classified by type of rock, types of minerals according to their chemical composition and fossils by geological eras.

It is an interesting tour for the public in general and for schools in particular due to its educational aspect.

Free entrance.

Daily from 10 am to 2 pm and from 4 to 6 pm. Closed: 24, 25 and 31 December, 1 and 6 January.
