Santuario de Monteagud

Situated in the municipality of Benizalón, Monteagud Shrine is dedicated to Our Lady of La Cabeza, the symbol of the Sierra de los Filabres mountains which unites the entire region.

Monteagud Shrine is a place for devotion and relaxation, where you can enjoy the spectacular view of the sea, the desert and the mountains. Legend has it that the Virgin appeared above a holm oak on Monteagud hill, and the shrine is the site of a Moorish ribat called "Montahur". It is a place of pilgrimage for the locals.
