The course of looms and tapestries of the Alpujarra is given every day in the morning, reserving at least 2 days in advance.

The Hilacar jarapas loom is the only handmade workshop of jarapas in La Alpujarra. Located here in Bubiónn, Granada and that aims to bring the public to enjoy and learn the art of weaving.

The course "Craftsman for a day" is an introduction to the fabric of the jarapa in manual loom through a contact with the loom and fabric, in which you can knit a jarapa with the colors you choose and the design what do you like?

Bubión, recently declared "Most beautiful town in Spain, is also the first town in Andalusia with the international recognition of Cittaslow and what better way to enjoy it than just listening to the noise of the birds while weaving a jarapa with incredible views .

We offer two types of courses.

One to make a small tapestry where you learn the technique of the high heddle, assemble the warp and several types of points so that if you like to be able to later work at home with what you have learned here.

In winter we do it inside the workshop but in summer we are lucky enough to be able to do it on the terrace with a wonderful view of the Poqueira Ravine in the background.

The other course is in the low-loom loom and under my tutelage you can weave a fantastic jarapa with your own hands, which you can then enjoy at home with the satisfaction that you have woven it.

The material that we are going to use is recycled cotton from the remains of factories or if you have a shirt that you are fond of but it is too small, we prepare it by making it into thin strips, we give it a new life by weaving it on looms with more than 150 years old and that we have preserved with such care.

To finish we will have a wine, beer or a soft drink to be able to toast with this beautiful landscape for good company and such a fruitful day and share impressions on the result of the craft work.

We have a wide variety of jarapas for sale in many sizes and combinations of colors, as well as we can make a bespoke custom made with the colors that most like.
