September Fair in Cabra

The festivities of the patron saint in Cabra take place from 3 to 8 September, in honour of the Virgen de la Sierra.

The main event is the “Bajá” of the Virgin, on the 4th, with the triumphant entrance under the arches of the old Calle Baena, and the mayor hands over the mayoress’s rod to the Virgin, who was proclaimed “Perpetual mayoress” in 1958.

The inaugural speech starts the festivities on the 3th, and it proclaims the Queen of the Festivity and her ladies-in-waiting, who usually represent the different districts in the town. The inaugural speech and the election of the Queen and her Ladies have been celebrated since 1966/67.

Another of the unique events is the Battle of Flowers on the 5th, and the solemn procession on the 8th, attended by a large number of devotees, religious institutions and confraternities.

They were declared a festivity of Andalusian Tourist Interest in 1972.
