This village belongs to the Municipality of Carcheles, union of Carchel and Carchelejo, which is the seat of the Town Hall and all the official institutions as it is the largest of the two. It is situated to the south of the province, in the middle of the southern mountains, next to the motorway that links Granada and Jaen, in a rugged mountainous landscape with olive groves and orchards alongside the Campillo river.
