Carmona is a renowned mediaeval village located on top of a hill in the Los Alcores region. Its dominant position and its luminosity led it to be known as "the Star of Europe" by Julius Caesar himself.

The stately houses, Mudéjar churches and the three Alcázares (fortresses) make a visit to Carmona ideal for learning all about this jewel in just a few hours. Carmona is very Andalusian with a magnificent monumental heritage and dates back over 3,000 years. Starting with the well-known Puerta de Sevilla gateway, which is currently considered to be the oldest building that can be visited in Spain.

The tour of Carmona starts at the tourist office and includes a visit to the town's most iconic attractions accompanied by Naturanda's guide. Carthaginian, Roman, Moorish and Christian cultures left an indelible legacy of great significance on every street corner. From the Puerta de Sevilla the route takes you along the Cardo Maximus from Roman times to the Plaza de San Fernando, the nerve centre of the town.

After passing alongside the Church of Santa María towards the Puerta de Córdoba gateway before reaching the Alcázar del Rey Don Pedro fortress that was converted into a Parador hotel by the Carmona Town Council.

You then continue through the old town along narrow streets that are so typical of an Andalusian white village. There you will see a number of Mudéjar and Baroque churches and enjoy marvellous views over the Vega de Carmona plain from one of the extraordinary lookout points.

After a guided tour on foot lasting more than two hours and visiting Carmona's best attractions on foot, the tour finishes very near the point where it started.
