Guadix, Cuevas de Trópolis, Castillo de La Calahorra y Desierto de Tabernas desde Granada

"Join us on this unique trip to the region of Guadix, our journey will start from Granada, in semi-private transport and accompanied by a local guide. We will visit the most picturesque villages of the whole territory of the northern part of the province of Granada. 

We will begin our day's excursion with a stop in Alcudía de Guadix, one of the towns in the well-known Zalabí Valley, with a landscape of contrasts, green valleys with abundant vegetation and the reddish tones of a desert environment. Its history dates back to prehistoric times, as evidenced by the remains found in the necropolis, belonging to the Bronze Age. The Roman and Arab presence was also noticeable, given the proximity of the Via Augusta with its constant flow of people and goods and the moments of splendour of the later Arab domination.

Many of the houses in the town are caves dug into the clayey soil of the area. Most of them are still inhabited today. We will visit the caves of Trópolis, a multi-space for culture, ecotourism and leisure, where you will learn about the culture of the region and the Troglodytic way of life.

We will continue to the Castle of La Calahorra, a place full of history and framed in a particular landscape, on the top of a hill we find this impressive fortress characterized by the reddish colour of its walls, on the ruins of another previous castle of Arab origin, it was ordered to be built by Rodrigo de Mendoza, Marquis of Zenete, turning it into a magnificent Renaissance palace. The views from the castle with the peaks of the Sierra Nevada in the background are breathtakingly beautiful.

Our last visit will be to the village of Tabernas, where we will enjoy a delicious lunch in a restaurant that offers the best local gastronomy of the area and then we will stop in the Almerian desert of Tabernas, a Hollywood film paradise during the intense decades of the 60s and 70s. Unique, beautiful and enigmatic landscapes have been the setting for scenes of legendary films in the history of cinema, such as: Cleopatra, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, or the adventurous scenes of Indiana Jones.
