Fontanar is a small village belonging to Pozo Alcon, located south of the Natural Park of Sierra de Cazorla.

The word Fontanar means water birth, and refers to the infinite springs beneath the town houses.

A major gap separates the valley of the river Guadiana Menor, giving rise to a slope with steep and deep ravines. From the top, spots as the Puntal del Lirio offer views of virtually the entire eastern Andalusia. The landscape-desert and steppe flora and fauna are unique in the nature reserve.

And it's worth getting lost in their neighborhoods. As La Loma, natural viewpoint to be added to the uniqueness of its buildings, the cave houses, or la Rambla, with abundant water sources and vegetation that make it an interesting place with great natural attractions.

History
