The Frigiliana fair is celebrated in honour of Saint Anthony of Padua, its Patron Saint. Every year the racket of fireworks and the flowered target mark the start of the San Antonio festivities, extending over a few days during which different activities and competitions complete the intense fair programme.
During those days, it is taken to various places in town. The most traditional games attract the small children in the San Antonio neighbourhood since decades ago, with ribbon races on bike, stews, races with eggs, etc. But not only is the nightlife the host of the revelry, as the fair by day is held at the official house, where hundreds of people go to see the different local groups of dance, flamenco, etc. in a big fiesta that extends until late in the afternoon…
On the 13th of June, the central day of the celebrations and festivities of Saint Anthony, the traditional pilgrimage takes place, in which the Patron Saint is taken on procession on a covered cart pulled by oxen, from the church named after him to a recreation area at the Higuerón River known as "El Pozo Viejo" (the old well).
