The Santa Maria de Gracia convent was founded in 1510, and is the first religious community to become established in Huelva. The building consists of a convent and a church.

The convent has three cloisters, two of Mudejar origin and another dating from the 18th century. The rest of the rooms are arranged around the cloisters.

The church has a single nave. Its main altarpiece is particularly outstanding; it was originally designed in the 17th century by Luis de Figueroa, and rebuilt after the Civil War. In addition to its carvings, the pictorial decorations on the altarpiece in the main chapel and various other murals are especially notable.

Throughout its long existence, the building has undergone numerous transformations; the entrance courtyard and another Mudejar courtyard raised on brick pillars still remain from the earliest period.

This is the home of the Brotherhood of la Buena Muerte.

Mass times: Monday to Friday 8:30 pm Sundays and holidays 1 pm and 8:30 pm.
